Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at mms.com.
These spooky cake pops start with a white cake base mixed with buttery frosting and peanut butter M&M'S, then are coated in white candy melts and topped with a realistic candy eyeball. A red gel icing finish creates gory bloodshot veins, making them perfect for a frightful dessert table.
Ingredients
Directions
- Bake the white cake mix following package instructions. Once cooled, crumble enough cake to measure 3 cups; save any leftover cake for another project.
- With an electric mixer, cream the butter until fluffy. Gradually add sifted icing sugar, milk, vanilla, and salt, mixing on low until smooth. Then beat on high for 1-2 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake crumbs with the frosting and mix until a dough forms. Fold in the M&M’S Peanut Butter Ghoulish Mix. Divide the dough into 16 equal portions and roll into balls. Place on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for about 15 minutes until firm.
- Stir the melted white candy melts together with the melted coconut oil. Dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the mixture, then insert it into each cake ball. Freeze for about 5 minutes until set. Dip each cake pop into the remaining candy melt mixture, gently tapping off excess.
- Press a large candy eyeball onto each cake pop. Stand the pops upright in a block of plastic foam. Let set for 30-60 minutes until firm. Using red gel icing, pipe thin lines around the eyeball to create bloodshot veins.
