Create a whimsical Halloween decoration by carving a pumpkin into a candy-covered cottage. Use candy corn, licorice, and white chocolate to add colorful details, and top it off with a Jack Be Little pumpkin window box. This project is perfect for a festive front porch display.
You'll need
Directions
- Cut a circular opening at the top of a large orange pumpkin and scoop out all the seeds and pulp.
- On the front, carve three rectangular shapes to serve as windows and a door.
- Set the pumpkin on a gentle slope made from craft foam, then cover the foam with artificial moss.
- Slice the top off a white Jack Be Little pumpkin, then cut the remainder in half to create two window boxes. Secure them to the house using T-pins.
- Attach decorative elements with glue: polyester batting for chimney smoke, gumdrops for roofing, and white chocolate pieces for window shutters.
- Cut sugar straws into pieces that fit inside the window openings as frames.
- For the door, glue a gumdrop knob onto the front of a chocolate bar, then place it in the doorway that has been framed with licorice.
- Use craft foam to build a small hill, then layer slices of white chocolate on top to form steps.
