This clever project uses inexpensive plastic tablecloths to create a layered fringe backdrop perfect for Halloween photos. By cutting strips and attaching them to a plastic fence base, you can achieve a custom look quickly. The final trim step gives the backdrop a polished, professional finish.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Fold and cut one tablecloth in half along the short side, then stack those halves and cut again to create four equal-sized rectangles.
  2. Stack those four rectangles, then starting at the bottom, slice 1- to 2-inch-wide strips going upward, stopping 2 inches from the top so the piece stays connected. Repeat this process for each tablecloth. Reserve two full tablecloths of each color for later use.
  3. Measure and trim the plastic fencing to match the width of your desired backdrop. Fix it to your stand or wall. Starting from the bottom and moving upward, use hot glue to attach the fringed tablecloth pieces to the fencing.
  4. Halve each of the reserved tablecloths (the two per color) to yield 12 fringe pieces. Drape these over the top of the backdrop to conceal any visible fencing.
  5. Neaten the bottom edge of the fringe by trimming it, giving the backdrop more defined layers.
