These cute pumpkin-shaped appetizers are made from crescent roll dough wrapped around mozzarella cheese, then tied with twine to create pumpkin ridges. After baking until golden, they're topped with a pretzel stem for a festive Halloween treat.
Ingredients
Directions
- Heat the oven to 375°F and cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut each mozzarella cheese stick into 4 equal pieces.
- Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles, then shape each into a ball.
- Flatten each dough ball into a disc, place a cheese piece in the center, and wrap the dough around it to form a ball.
- Cut a piece of kitchen twine about 10 to 12 inches long. Starting at the top of the dough ball, wrap the twine around the middle toward the bottom. At the bottom, cross the twine and wrap it back up toward the top in a different direction. Twist at the top and go back down. Repeat this crisscross pattern 3 or 4 times (no more than 4), then tie off the twine. Do this for all dough balls.
- Place the wrapped dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until lightly golden.
- Let them cool for about 10 minutes, then carefully snip and remove the twine with scissors.
- Break the mini pretzel sticks in half and insert one piece, broken side down, into the top of each pumpkin bite.
