This Halloween, spook your guests with two ghoulish treats: deviled eggs disguised as eyeballs with green filling and red veins, and breadsticks shaped like severed fingers with almond fingernails. Both are easy to make and perfect for a themed party.
Ingredients
Directions
- Combine the egg yolks with mayonnaise, sweet relish, finely chopped olives, and mustard, stirring until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Stir in a few drops of green food coloring to give the filling an eerie tint.
- Place a slice of black olive in the center of each filled egg, then add a small piece of pimento on top to mimic a pupil and bloodshot effect.
- Dip a toothpick in red food coloring and draw thin lines radiating outward from the olive to create realistic veins.
- Unroll the Pillsbury garlic breadstick dough and separate it into individual strips by cutting along the perforated lines with a pizza cutter.
- Lay the strips on a lightly greased baking sheet and gently shape one end of each strip into a rounded fingertip.
- Lightly brush the rounded tip with egg wash to help the almond stick.
- Press a sliced almond onto the egg-washed tip to form a creepy fingernail.
- Bake the breadstick fingers following the time and temperature indicated on the Pillsbury package.
- Arrange the finished finger breadsticks on a platter and serve with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
