This recipe guides you through baking mini chocolate cupcakes and decorating them with Oreo cookie halves to resemble bats. You will prepare a simple batter, bake the cupcakes, and then use melted chocolate and candy eyes to assemble the bat wings and faces. The result is a fun, festive treat that is both visually striking and delicious.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 12-cup mini muffin pan by placing paper liners in each well.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/3 tsp baking powder, 1/8 tsp baking soda, and 1/8 tsp salt. Whisk these dry ingredients until evenly distributed.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together 40 ml whole milk, 40 ml vegetable oil, 1 tbsp beaten egg, and 1/3 tsp vanilla extract. Pour this wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Finally, carefully stir in 40 ml boiling water until the batter is smooth and uniform.
  4. Divide the batter among the prepared liners, filling each about 2/3 of the way. Bake for 8–10 minutes, then remove from the oven and allow the cupcakes to cool completely before proceeding.
  5. Take 12 Oreo cookies and gently twist them apart to separate the wafers from the cream filling. Discard the filling and cut each cookie half in half again to create 24 smaller pieces that will serve as bat wings.
  6. Melt 1/4 cup of melting chocolate according to package instructions, then pour it into a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.
  7. Pipe a small amount of chocolate onto each side of the cooled cupcakes. Immediately press an Oreo half onto each side of the chocolate to secure it as a wing.
  8. Pipe two small dots of chocolate in the center of each cupcake to form the bat's body, then press a candy eye onto each dot to complete the look.
