This recipe guides you through making mini chocolate cupcakes that are decorated to look like cute bats. You will mix dry and wet ingredients to create a smooth batter, bake the cupcakes in a mini muffin pan, and then use halved Oreo cookies as wings. Melted chocolate acts as both glue and facial features, while candy eyes bring the bat faces to life for a festive dessert.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 12-cup mini muffin pan by placing paper liners in each well.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/3 tsp baking powder, 1/8 tsp baking soda, and 1/8 tsp salt, whisking them until evenly distributed.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat together 1 tbsp beaten egg, 40 ml whole milk, 40 ml vegetable oil, and 1/3 tsp vanilla extract. Pour this wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Finally, carefully stir in 40 ml boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  4. Divide the batter among the prepared liners, filling each about 2/3 of the way. Bake for 8–10 minutes, then allow the cupcakes to cool completely before proceeding with decoration.
  5. Gently twist open 12 Oreo cookies to separate the wafers from the cream filling. Cut each plain cookie half in half again to create 24 small wing shapes.
  6. Melt 1/4 cup of melting chocolate according to package instructions, then pour it into a piping bag fitted with a small tip.
  7. Pipe a small amount of chocolate onto each side of the cooled cupcakes. Immediately press an Oreo cookie half into the chocolate on each side to form the bat wings.
  8. Pipe two small dots of chocolate in the center of each cupcake to serve as the head, then press a candy eye onto each dot to complete the bat face.
