This easy DIY project uses orange, green, and brown foam clay to create a miniature pumpkin complete with stem, vines, and leaf. Follow nine simple steps to shape, dent, and assemble your own festive clay decoration.
You'll need
Directions
- Start by collecting orange, green, and brown foam clay for making the pumpkin body, stem, leaf, and tendrils. Feel free to use different shades of these colors if you'd like.
- On a flat, smooth work surface, roll each clay piece into a spherical shape. It's okay if you need to resize them later.
- Lightly press your thumb or finger into one side of the orange ball to form a shallow depression. This dent helps the pumpkin sit upright.
- Next, using something like a pen or a small stick, create a deeper indentation on the side directly opposite the first dent.
- Roll the brown clay into a slender strip for the stem. Place the thicker end of this strip into the small dent and gently curve the other end to complete the stem.
- With a clay tool, carve four intersecting lines around the stem. Make sure these cuts extend to the center of the opposite side.
- Now, mold the green clay into thin tendrils, adding a small curl at the tip of each. Attach these tendrils close to the pumpkin's stem.
- Form a leaf shape from a bit of green clay. Use your clay tool to score vein lines on it so it looks like a real leaf.
- Lastly, position the leaf on top of the pumpkin beside the stem. Your cute clay pumpkin is ready to display!
