This guide shows how to make DIY Halloween ornaments using glass Christmas balls, newspaper, Mod Podge, and acrylic paint. Simply wrap paper strips soaked in Mod Podge around the balls, let dry, then paint spooky designs. Add wire and beads for hanging on a Halloween tree.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Gather your glass ornament balls and ensure they are free of any dust or sticky leftovers.
  2. Tear newspaper into slender strips, roughly a quarter to half an inch wide. Remember, thinner strips yield a smoother finish.
  3. In a bowl, combine equal parts water and Mod Podge, making sure there's enough liquid to soak the paper strips.
  4. Immerse each paper strip fully in the mix, then run your fingers along it to remove any extra goo.
  5. Begin applying the damp strips around the ornaments, covering the entire surface including the rim at the top.
  6. Once every ornament is fully wrapped, suspend them and allow to dry for at least one night.
  7. After they're dry, use acrylic craft paint to decorate. Start with a solid base layer, let it dry, then add your spooky patterns.
  8. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly. If hanging, attach a wire loop and optional beads.
