This guide走s you through making a DIY mummy costume for kids using simple materials like cotton lace, gauze, and tulle. Follow these steps to transform plain clothes into a fun Halloween outfit.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Start by dyeing all your white items using black tea. Don't dye tulle as the dye won't stick.
  2. Soak tea bags in hot water, then dip and rinse your fabrics. Let them dry before cutting.
  3. Cut strips of fabric into random widths for the bandages. Lay them on the t-shirt.
  4. Pin the strips onto the t-shirt, wrapping some around the front and back.
  5. Sew the strips down using a tack stitch. Use a safety pin if needed.
  6. Stitch over the strips on the machine to reinforce the bandages.
  7. For the pants, remove the elastic and cut the inseam. Wrap the strips around the legs.
  8. Stitch the strips on top of the pants at the top, both front and back.
  9. Sew the inseam closed to secure the strips. For the skirt, follow a simple skirt tutorial.
  10. Layer tulle, fabric strips, and the main skirt fabric for the skirt.
  11. Stitch the layers together, create a casing, and insert elastic for the waistband.
