Easy DIY Pumpkin Costume for Adults

This simple costume uses an orange sweatshirt as the base, with a black felt or vinyl jack-o'-lantern face and a handmade pumpkin top featuring felt leaves, vines, and a ribbon stem. The pumpkin top attaches to an alligator clip for easy wear, making it a quick and adorable Halloween outfit.

Directions

Using a cutting machine (like Cricut Maker), cut a jack-o'-lantern face from black iron-on vinyl. Alternatively, cut the face from black felt or fleece.

Remove the excess vinyl around the face design (weed).

If using iron-on vinyl, press it onto the front of the orange sweatshirt with an Easypress 2. If using felt/fleece, sew the face onto the shirt.

Stack the two orange felt circles, sew an "X" through both, then stitch around the edges to seal.

Close the bias binding by sewing it shut, then cut two 9-inch pieces.

Sew vein lines onto each green leaf piece.

Arrange the vines and leaves on top of the pumpkin, then tack them in place.

Roll the brown ribbon tightly into a tube shape and secure it with glue.

Attach the rolled ribbon stem onto the pumpkin top, covering the tacked stitches.

Glue the alligator hair clip to the bottom of the pumpkin top.
