Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at dailydoseofdetails.blogspot.com.
This scarecrow costume focuses on a creative makeup look with copper and brown tones, stitch-like details, and patchwork lines. Finish the outfit with a flannel shirt, overalls, floppy hat, and straw for an authentic farmyard feel.
Directions
- Start by sweeping a light brown eyeshadow into the crease, then layer a copper shade over it. Also apply the copper along the lower lash line.
- Use the same copper shadow to create a rounded triangle shape on your nose.
- Define your face by contouring the cheekbones, forehead sides, and jawline. Then add a reddish-orange blush to the apples of your cheeks.
- With black liquid eyeliner, outline the triangle on your nose and draw approximately six small stitch marks around it.
- On each side of your mouth, draw curved lines with the liner and add similar stitch marks inside them.
- Apply a coat of red lipstick to your lips.
- Using the eyeliner again, pick random spots on your face and draw cross-hatch lines to mimic a patched, distressed look.
- Beneath each eye, sketch an upside-down triangle using the eyeliner.
- Blend black eyeshadow into the outer crease, merging it with the brown shadow.
- Add stitch-like lines to your eyebrows, then finish with false eyelashes.
- Complete your costume with a plaid button-up shirt, jeans or overalls, a floppy hat, and maybe some straw tucked in.
