This easy Halloween twist on a Shirley Temple uses grenadine, lemon-lime soda, and a rim coated in red sugar to create a creepy-cute drink. A syringe filled with grenadine sits on top like a blood-filled prop, making it perfect for Halloween parties. The recipe is simple to assemble and sure to impress guests of all ages.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Coat the rim of your cocktail glass by dipping it in honey, marshmallow fluff, or corn syrup.
  2. Immediately roll the sticky rim in red sugar sprinkles to create a bloody edge.
  3. Pour a small amount of grenadine into the bottom of each glass.
  4. Fill the glass about three-quarters full with regular ice cubes.
  5. Drop two maraschino cherries with stems into the glass, letting them rest on the ice.
  6. Pour the lemon-lime soda or ginger ale into the glass until it is also about three-quarters full.
  7. Fill a plastic syringe halfway with grenadine (this will look like blood later).
  8. Insert a straw into the drink.
  9. Place the filled syringe across the top of the glass, with the tip pointing into the drink.
