This ghoulishly good Halloween snack mix is a sweet and salty party in a bowl. It features Bugles, Cheez-Its, popcorn, and pretzels coated in a buttery brown sugar glaze, then baked to perfection. After cooling, you add candy eyeballs for a creepy touch and stir in candy corn and Reese's Pieces for extra festive flavor.
Ingredients
Directions
- Set your oven to 255 degrees F (124 degrees C) so it can warm up.
- In a large roasting pan, toss together the cone-shaped corn snacks, cheese-flavored crackers, popped popcorn, and pretzel sticks.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring the brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and coarse salt to a boil, stirring occasionally. Let it boil while stirring often for 5 minutes. Take the pan off the heat, then mix in the vanilla extract and baking soda. Pour this syrup over the snack mixture in the roasting pan and stir until everything is coated.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, stirring the mixture every 15 minutes to ensure even coating.
- Cover a countertop with waxed paper and spread the baked snack mix out into a single layer to cool.
- Put the vanilla-flavored candy coating in a microwave-safe bowl and heat it for 1 minute. Stir until smooth, then dab a little melted coating onto the back of each candy eyeball and press it onto a cone-shaped corn snack. Repeat until all eyeballs are attached.
- Move the snack mix to a large bowl. Add the candy corn and the candy-coated peanut butter pieces, then stir until they are well mixed in.
