This Graveyard Taco Dip layers refried beans, seasoned sour cream, avocado mix, salsa, and scallions. The creepy graveyard effect comes from tortilla cutouts baked until crisp, then decorated with a food-safe marker and placed into the dip before serving.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine sour cream with taco seasoning in a small bowl.
  2. Mash avocados, then mix with minced garlic and mayonnaise in another small bowl.
  3. In a small Pyrex dish or pie plate, layer refried beans, then the sour cream mixture, then avocado mixture, then salsa.
  4. Sprinkle chopped scallions on top.
  5. Refrigerate for at least one hour, or until serving time. (Dip can be made a day ahead and stored covered in the fridge.)
  6. Cut tombstone and tree shapes from two large tortillas.
  7. Place cutouts on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350°F until browned.
  8. Use a black food-safe marker to write text on the tombstones.
  9. Insert the tortilla shapes into the dip right before serving.
