This Halloween recipe transforms ordinary avocado toast into a creepy Frankenstein face. Start with seasoned guacamole on thick bread, then use olives for eyes, slivered almonds for teeth, black items for hair, and veggie strips for bolts. Customize with your favorite toppings for a fun, edible art project.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Make guacamole: halve avocados, remove pits, scoop flesh into a bowl. Mash to desired chunkiness. Season with lime juice, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Optionally stir in sour cream for creaminess. Spread guacamole onto thick toasted bread slices. Keep guacamole at room temperature for easy spreading. If using a plate, you can transfer the guacamole to a container before decorating.
  2. Create Frankenstein's eyes: use tomato slices, hard-boiled egg white rounds, fresh mozzarella rounds, cucumber slices, or white cheese circles. Place a black olive half in the center as a pupil. For a gruesome look, cut olives lengthwise. Add a dab of mayonnaise inside each olive for realism. For kid-friendly versions, use candy eyeballs or raisins. Secure olives with a dab of guacamole or a toothpick.
  3. Make Frankenstein's mouth: carve a horizontal slit into the guacamole. Insert 4-5 slivered almonds (or chopped peanuts/sunflower seeds) as teeth. For a bigger mouth, add more almonds. Use red bell pepper, zigzag-cut cheese, or hard-boiled egg whites for lips. Black fondant can be shaped into any gruesome mouth form.
  4. Craft Frankenstein's hair: use black corn chips, black olives, seaweed, black sesame seeds, or black fondant. Place the hair starting from the forehead and moving back. For a traditional look, try chopped parsley or chives. Add eyebrows or scars using colorful veggies.
  5. Create Frankenstein's bolts: cut thin strips of carrot, cucumber, or celery. Insert them at an angle into the guacamole on both sides of the head, appearing to go into the neck. Add any other personal touches like a nose, earrings, or extra scars.
