Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at alekasgettogether.com.
This Halloween brain dip uses a brain mold to create a spooky, realistic appetizer. Cream cheese and Boursin are blended, chilled overnight, then unmolded and topped with a thinned red pepper jelly that drips like blood. Serve with crackers for a creepy party hit.
Ingredients
Directions
- In a stand mixer, combine the cream cheese and Boursin cheese until smooth. If you like, stir in extra herbs or spices.
- Transfer the mixture into your brain mold. Press a sheet of plastic wrap directly onto the cheese surface—it's fine if the mold isn't completely full; the brain will still look great.
- Place the filled mold in the refrigerator and let it chill overnight so the dip becomes firm.
- The next morning, take the mold out and remove the plastic wrap. Flip the mold upside down onto a serving platter and let it sit for at least 10 minutes before trying to unmold. If you're using a silicone mold, you can peel it off easily.
- Allow the cheese brain to sit at room temperature for a few hours to thaw slightly.
- In a small bowl, combine 6 ounces of red pepper jelly with 2–3 tablespoons of water. Stir until the jelly thins just enough to drip over the brain—be careful not to make it too watery.
- Just before serving, insert a knife into the center of the brain. Serve with crackers and enjoy!
