Halloween Coasters with HAZMAT Stickers
Turn salvaged wood into eerie coasters with HAZMAT stickers and a blood splatter effect.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at sadieseasongoods.com.
These DIY Halloween coasters start with 4x4 wood squares stained dark, then topped with poison label decals for a toxic look. After sealing, you can add a red paint splatter using a toothbrush to mimic blood for extra spookiness.

Directions
- Start by smoothing the sharp edges of your wooden squares with fine-grit sandpaper to avoid splinters, then apply a dark wood stain.
- If the first stain doesn't look deep enough, add a second coat of a different stain until you get a rich, dark color.
- Place a coaster on a HAZMAT poison label and trace around it, then cut out the shape just inside the line so a thin border of wood shows around the label.
- Brush a layer of decoupage glue onto the coaster, lay the label on top, and use your fingertips to press out any air bubbles.
- Once the glue is fully dry, lightly sand the label with fine-grit sandpaper to give it a worn, aged appearance.
- Wipe away the sanding dust and apply another coat of decoupage glue over the label to seal it.
- For an optional creepy effect, dip a cheap toothbrush in red craft paint and run your thumb over the bristles to splatter the label, making sure to cover your work area with a drop cloth.
