Turn your Halloween party into a witch's lab with this creepy punch that looks like wart juice!
Our own summary of the original by Sheryl — the full post and photos live at ladybehindthecurtain.com.
This spooky punch features tapioca pearls dyed brown to resemble warts suspended in glowing green soda. The pearls are cooked, colored, and then placed in test tubes or baby food jars, filled with Mountain Dew for a bubbly effect. It's a gross-out hit for Halloween parties.
Ingredients
Directions
- Start by heating 6 cups of water until it boils, then toss in the small tapioca pearls.
- Turn down the heat so it simmers gently, and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring every so often.
- Take the pot off the heat and stir in the food coloring mixture (blend colors to get brown).
- Give it a good stir, then leave it uncovered for 20 minutes. A slimy film will form on top.
- Drain the pearls and rinse them with cold water.
- Spoon about a teaspoon of the wart-like pearls into each test tube, then top off with Mountain Dew.
- Use a skewer or similar long object to reach the bottom and swirl the pearls to prevent clumping.
- Since you'll have plenty of tapioca, you can substitute baby food jars if test tubes aren't available.
