This Halloween Snack Mix blends air-popped popcorn, pretzels, peanuts, candy corn, and Reese’s Pieces with a homemade peanut butter caramel coating. The recipe yields a generous batch that can be customized with orange candy melts and sprinkles for a festive touch.
Ingredients
Directions
- In a massive mixing bowl, combine the air-popped popcorn, mini-twist pretzels, roasted salted peanuts, candy corn, and Reese’s Pieces. Divide the mixture evenly between two large rimmed baking sheets.
- Place a large saucepan over medium-high heat and melt the unsalted butter. Whisk in the honey and granulated sugar, stirring continuously until the blend becomes smooth. Once it begins to bubble, let it boil for approximately five minutes, gently shaking the pan from time to time to prevent scorching. The liquid should develop a rich, caramel aroma and darken slightly. Take the pan off the burner and carefully fold in the creamy peanut butter, salt, and heavy cream until fully incorporated.
- Immediately pour the warm peanut butter caramel sauce over the snack mix on the baking sheets. Use two large spoons to toss and coat every piece thoroughly. If desired, drizzle melted orange candy melts across the top and add sprinkles for decoration. Allow the mix to cool completely on the pans before breaking apart any clumps and transferring it to serving bowls.
