This Halloween snack mix combines salty Chex, Bugles, pretzels, and peanuts with a buttery brown sugar glaze that gets baked for extra crunch. After cooling, you stir in Halloween candies like M&Ms, candy corn, and chocolate bars. It's a festive treat that keeps for up to 10 days in an airtight container.
Ingredients
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325°F. Prepare large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats; if unavailable, line with foil and spray with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl (or two), combine pretzels, peanuts, Chex, and Bugles. Have this ready because you'll need to work quickly after the sauce is made.
- In a small saucepan, melt 2 sticks butter and 1 cup brown sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring often, and boil for 3 minutes. Stir regularly to avoid burning.
- Once the mixture is thick and dark brown, remove from heat. Stir in 1 tablespoon vanilla, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon salt.
- Pour the hot sauce over the dry mix and toss quickly to coat evenly. You can stop here, but baking gives better crunch and flavor.
- Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove and stir. Bake another 10 minutes, stir again, and bake for a final 10 minutes (total 30 minutes).
- Let the mix cool completely. Once cool, transfer to a serving bowl and add the assorted candies, chocolate bar pieces, sprinkles, and candy eyeballs if using. Toss to combine.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature in a cool, dry place for up to 7–10 days. Refrigerate if kitchen is warm, but do not freeze.
