This project uses white spray paint, black paint for stems, and an oil-based Sharpie paint pen to create custom patterned pumpkins. After prepping and painting the pumpkins, you practice your sketches on paper before drawing directly onto the pumpkins. The result is a modern, artistic look perfect for Halloween decor.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Take off any tags and pull out the plastic stems from the faux pumpkins.
  2. Apply multiple coats of white satin spray paint (a primer-and-paint combo works well) to the pumpkins.
  3. Allow the pumpkins to dry fully for a full 24 hours after the final coat.
  4. Use flat black spray paint or black craft paint to coat the stems.
  5. Before drawing on the pumpkins, try out your patterns on scrap paper.
  6. Using an oil-based Sharpie paint pen in black (or another color of your choice), draw your designs onto the pumpkins.
