How to Make a Haunted Terrarium for Halloween
Craft a spooky haunted terrarium with a floating ghost, eerie trees, and a mossy graveyard scene.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at hgtv.com.
This Halloween project transforms a large jar into a miniature haunted landscape. Layer sheet moss, add a paper haunted house, twig trees, and a tiny fence, then suspend a tissue ghost from the lid using fishing line. The result is a self-contained creepy display perfect for a shelf or tabletop.

Directions
- Fill the bottom of a big clear jar with a lid with 3 to 4 inches of natural sheet moss.
- Check the jar's interior height and width. Using those measurements, cut a haunted house shape from black tag board, then outline windows and doors with a white paint pen.
- Place the paper house into the moss and fasten it to the back of the jar with clear tape.
- Stick small twigs into the moss to resemble bare, spooky trees.
- Press a piece of miniature fence into the moss close to the front of the jar.
- Add more visual interest by placing clumps of reindeer moss around the scene.
- Rip a facial tissue in half. Layer the halves in a cross shape and put a 1-inch foam ball in the center.
- Pull the tissue up around the foam ball and tie a knot with fishing line right under the ball to form the ghost's neck.
- Cut two small ovals from black tag board for eyes and glue them onto the ghost.
- Use wire snips to trim the prongs of a U-shaped floral pin, then push it into the top of the ghost's head.
- Tie one end of a fishing line piece around the floral pin, and tape the other end to the inside of the jar's lid with clear tape.
- Put the lid on the jar, adjusting the line length so the ghost hangs at a good height.
