Turn ordinary tomato cages into glowing ghost decorations for Halloween with this easy DIY project.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at hgtv.com.
These DIY Halloween ghosts start with metal tomato cages spray-painted white and topped with paper lanterns. White string lights shine through draped fabric, and peel-and-stick felt faces give each ghost a spooky expression. With just a few materials, you can create a set of glowing ghosts for your yard or porch.

Directions
- Give the metal tomato cages a coat of white spray paint. If you want ghosts in different sizes but only have one size cage, snip off a section with wire cutters. Flip the cage upside down so the widest end becomes the ghost's stable base. Push the metal spikes inward until they meet in the center, and if needed, secure them with floral wire.
- Open and set up the large white paper lanterns following the package directions. Place the lantern's opening over the spikes of the tomato cage. Use floral wire to fix the lantern so it stands upright.
- Weave the white string lights up and down each row of the tomato cage, making sure the lights are spread evenly across the structure.
- Drape the pre-cut white fabric, gauze, or creepy cloth over the top of the lantern head and let it hang down over the cage. At the back of the cage, secure the fabric with safety pins to keep it in place.
- Stick on the pre-cut felt eyes and mouth to create a spooky ghost face. Alternatively, you can cut your own eyes and mouth from felt and attach them with fabric glue instead of buying the pre-made kit.
