This tutorial guides you through creating a ghostly, cracked-lip effect using a white base, charcoal shadows, and red stain. Steps include contouring with shadow, lining eyes dramatically, and finishing with glitter and hair powder for a supernatural look.

Directions

  1. Start with a clean, toned, and moisturized face. Apply your usual primer but skip lip balm.
  2. Using a sponge, cover your entire face, eyebrows, and lips with white face paint or white foundation.
  3. Set the white base by brushing a layer of white translucent powder over your face.
  4. With a large eyeshadow brush and charcoal eyeshadow, apply shadow from the eyelid up to and including the brows. Then follow the curve of your nose around and under the eye to form a circular shape.
  5. Using an angled brush and black eyeshadow, apply to the outer corner of the eye, blending toward the brow and down the bridge of the nose following the curve from step 4. Also line the lower lash line and blend.
  6. Take a flat brush and lightly press white eyeshadow or highlighter powder under the eyebrow, at the inner corner of the eye, and at the bottom of the large circles; blend well.
  7. Use a creamy black eyeliner or kajal liner to line both the upper and lower lids, making the line thicker toward the outer ends and finishing with a flick. Ensure there are no gaps between the liner and lashes. Gently smudge the liner outward to blend into the circles; an angled eyeliner brush may help.
  8. Line the waterlines (rims) of your eyes with a black eyeliner pencil.
  9. If the eyes look too flat, add more highlighter until satisfied, but keep the bridge of the nose dark—avoid adding too much highlighter there.
  10. With your finger, apply dark grey glitter to the inner corners of the eyes (skip if desired). Then apply a heavy coat of extra black mascara or false lashes. Lightly dust the very outer edges of the circles with white face powder to soften the look.
  11. Using the same charcoal eyeshadow and a blusher brush, blend shadow under your cheekbones and to the corners of your forehead for a dramatic effect.
  12. With a lip brush, apply a red liquid blusher or lip stain over your lips to create a very sheer stain.
  13. Once the stain is dry, lightly dust your lips with white face powder until cracks begin to appear.
  14. Finally, spray some dry shampoo or dust your hair with talcum powder, then style as desired.
