This guide walks you through building a miniature haunted home on a pumpkin using natural materials like twigs, pinecones, and moss, along with simple craft supplies such as glue, wax paper, and paint.
You'll need
Directions
- Construct a miniature entrance by adhering several twigs together to form a flat, rectangular frame. Once the adhesive has set, carefully trim the wood to achieve your desired doorway shape. Attach a small wooden bead, stone, or button to serve as a handle.
- Form window panes by cutting translucent wax paper into your preferred shapes. Frame these panes by gluing slender twigs along the edges. For added depth, adhere a layer of dark fabric or additional wax paper to the reverse side, and apply a waterproof sealant if you wish to protect the piece.
- Attach the finished windows and door to the pumpkin's surface. Using a hot glue gun is advised, as this method allows you to detach the components later if needed.
- Cover the pumpkin's apex to create a roof. You can simply press moss onto the top for a rapid solution, or craft a layered shingled effect by peeling scales from pinecones and gluing them individually, starting at the base and overlapping each piece as you work upward.
- Incorporate spooky accents to enhance the eerie atmosphere. For instance, fashion a witch's broom by bundling raffia, straw, or feathers around a stick with string and adhesive.
