Marble Painting Pumpkins
Roll marbles through orange paint to create a fun, textured pumpkin craft!
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at paper-and-glue.com.
This marble painting technique gives pumpkins a swirly, textured look. Kids tape a printable pumpkin inside a box lid, add orange paint and marbles, then tilt to roll. After drying, cut out the pumpkin and glue it to paper—add a black paper face for a jack-o'-lantern.
You'll need
Directions
- Attach your printed pumpkin to the inside of a box lid using tape.
- If you'd like, use a paintbrush to color the stem brown.
- Squeeze several blobs of orange paint along the outer edge of the box lid.
- Drop the marbles into the lid and start tilting it back and forth. At first the marbles might get stuck in the paint, but they'll get slicker as they roll. You can help them along with a spoon or your fingers.
- Let the paint dry. It's easier to peel the paper off while the paint is still damp—if it dries fully, it can act like glue between the paper and the box.
- Once the paint is dry, cut out the pumpkin shape and glue it onto a colored construction paper background. For a jack-o'-lantern look, add a face using black construction paper cutouts!
