DIY Marbled Indigo Pumpkins

This simple technique uses indigo blue nail polish and water to create a stunning marbled effect on pumpkins. You'll swirl drops of polish on lukewarm water, dip the pumpkin briefly, then let it dry on wax paper. Flip after 20 minutes for an even finish.

Directions

  1. Fill a plastic container about three-quarters full with lukewarm water. If the water is too chilly, the nail polish will sink instead of floating. Then add 4 or 5 drops of indigo blue nail polish to the surface.
  2. Take a wood stir stick and gently swirl the nail polish on top of the water to create a marbled pattern.
  3. Carefully dip your pumpkin into the water, spinning it a little as you submerge it to pick up the polish design.
  4. Lift the pumpkin out of the water and place it on wax paper to dry. After about 20 minutes, flip it over so the other side can dry completely.
