These monster donuts are a fun Halloween baking project. Colorful batter and frosting create festive orange, green, and black donuts, decorated with candy eyes and sprinkles. Perfect for parties or a creepy breakfast.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 425°F. Lightly coat a donut pan with nonstick spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix thoroughly.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla yogurt until combined.
  5. Add the butter mixture to the flour mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter into three bowls. Leave one bowl plain; tint one orange and one green using food coloring.
  7. Transfer each batter to a zip-top bag and snip off a corner. Pipe batter into the donut pan, making 4 donuts per color.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool in the pan for 2 minutes, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the frosting, beat butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed.
  10. Add powdered sugar and milk; beat on medium-high until smooth. Mix in vanilla.
  11. Divide frosting into three bowls and color green, orange, and black.
  12. Fill piping bags with frosting and attach different tips. Decorate donuts as desired (e.g., fur tip, skinny tip for webs).
  13. Top with candy eyes, sprinkles, and edible spiders if using.
