These pumpkin jack-o'-lantern gummies are easy to make and perfect for Halloween. You'll use a cold juice and gelatin base, then create black faces with a small portion of the mixture. The key is to freeze the faces before adding the rest of the orange gummy mixture to keep the colors separate.
Ingredients
Directions
- Whisk together ¼ cup of cold juice with ¼ cup of gelatin until well combined.
- Pour in hot water and keep whisking until the mixture is smooth.
- Add the remaining juice while continuing to whisk.
- Reserve a small portion of the liquid for making the faces (skip this if you don't want faces). If not making faces, pour all into the molds.
- Allow the gummies to sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, then transfer to the fridge for another 30 minutes.
- Make sure the gummies are fully cooled before trying to remove them from the silicone molds.
- Separate about 3 teaspoons of the mixture for the face details.
- If needed, gently reheat the separated mixture on the stove or in the microwave in short bursts.
- Stir in black food coloring, then fill a plastic syringe. Carefully inject the colored mixture into the eye, nose, and mouth depressions of the silicone mold.
- Place the filled mold on a baking sheet and freeze for about 10 minutes.
- Let the remaining orange mixture cool a bit, then pour it over the frozen faces. Avoid pouring hot liquid to prevent the colors from bleeding together.
