Blend chickpeas with pumpkin puree, tahini, and spices until smooth. Then cook garlic and sage in olive oil before mixing in for extra flavor. Serve immediately or refrigerate; cold hummus turns thicker and creamier. Garnish with pumpkin seeds or herbs.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place the drained and rinsed chickpeas, pumpkin puree, tahini, lemon juice, sea salt, cumin, paprika, and cayenne (if using) in a blender or food processor. Process until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, pausing to scrape down the sides of the container as needed.
  2. In a small saucepan, warm the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped fresh sage, and cook for about 2 minutes until fragrant and lightly browned. Pour the cooked garlic, sage, and oil into the blender with the hummus base and blend again to fully incorporate. Taste and adjust seasoning to your preference.
  3. Serve the hummus immediately, or transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. If chilled, the hummus will become thicker and creamier. Garnish with roasted pumpkin seeds, a sprinkle of paprika, or fresh herbs as desired.
