Make your own Halloween-themed pop tarts with refrigerated pie crust, strawberry jam, and cookie icing. Shape them like coffins, fill with jam, seal, and bake until golden. Finish with a white spider web and black spiders, then let the icing set before serving.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F to preheat.
  2. Dust your cutting board lightly with flour to prevent the crust from sticking.
  3. Unroll one pie crust onto the floured board and press a coffin-shaped cookie cutter into it to make 6 shapes.
  4. Transfer the coffin cutouts to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Place a small spoonful of strawberry jam in the middle of each coffin, keeping it away from the edges so it doesn't run.
  6. If needed, add a bit more flour to the board. Then roll out the second pie crust and cut out 6 more coffins.
  7. Lay these new coffin crusts on top of the jam-covered ones.
  8. Press the edges of each coffin with a fork to seal them, preventing jam from leaking during baking.
  9. Prick a few small holes in the top of each sealed coffin to allow steam to escape while baking.
  10. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, until the pastries turn light brown.
  11. Take the baking sheet out of the oven and let the pop tarts cool down completely.
  12. Decorate each pop tart using the white icing to pipe a spider web and the black icing to add two spiders.
  13. Allow the icing to set for at least 30 minutes before serving.
