This recipe transforms classic caramel corn into a creepy candy-studded snack. Popcorn is coated with a homemade caramel, then topped with chopped Mars bars, colorful candy melts, and candy eyes. Let it harden for a crispy, sweet treat that’s fun to make and eat.
Ingredients
Directions
- Pop your popcorn using 1/2 cup of kernels to yield about 16 cups, then transfer it into a paper bag.
- In a large glass bowl, mix together 1 cup light brown sugar, 1/4 cup light corn syrup, and 1/2 cup butter. Microwave for 1 minute, then stir with a wooden spoon. Repeat this process four more times so the total cooking time is 5 minutes. The mixture will become very bubbly and hot.
- Using a wooden spoon, stir in 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Pour this caramel over the popcorn in the paper bag and stir well to coat.
- Place the paper bag in the microwave and heat for 1 minute. Take it out and shake it thoroughly. Heat for another 30 seconds, then remove and shake again. Spread the popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Chop 25 miniature Mars candy bars into small pieces and sprinkle them over the popcorn. Melt 1/2 cup white candy melts and 1/2 cup orange candy melts, then drizzle them on top. Add candy eyes for a spooky appearance.
- Allow the popcorn to harden completely, then serve and enjoy!
