This craft turns pumpkins into canvases for string art. After sketching a design, you insert nails along the lines and weave embroidery thread between them in a crisscross pattern. The result is a unique, textural Halloween decoration that’s easy to customize.

Directions
- Lightly draw your design on the pumpkin with a pencil. For example, you might sketch a thought bubble shape with letters inside, but feel free to create any pattern you like.
- Insert small nails into the pumpkin along your pencil lines. Curvy or intricate designs will require more nails; for straight sections, space the nails about half an inch apart. If you need a hammer, test gently first—little force is needed. The pumpkin may leak a bit at each hole; just leave it or dab with a paper towel.
- Tie one end of a lengthy piece of embroidery thread to a nail, hiding the knot. Then weave the thread back and forth between nails, moving around your design.
- Continue crisscrossing the thread randomly, making sure to trace the outline at least once so the shape is clear. For best results, loop the thread completely around each nail rather than just one side. When finished, tie another hidden knot around a nail and trim the excess.
