This indulgent bread combines pumpkin puree with cocoa, chocolate chips, and a silky ganache. It's easy to make and perfect for Halloween or autumn gatherings. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, then drizzle with homemade ganache.
Ingredients
Directions
- Heat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9x5-inch loaf pan and dust it with cocoa powder.
- In a big bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another big bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, sour cream, vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until smooth. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stir until just combined, then fold in 1 cup chocolate chips and the pumpkin puree.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and bake for 60 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes.
- Make the ganache: Place 3/4 cup chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the heavy cream until it just begins to bubble. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips, let stand for 2 minutes, then whisk until completely smooth.
- Pour the ganache over the cooled pumpkin bread, smoothing the top if desired, then slice and serve.
