Transform refrigerated biscuit dough into adorable vampire doughnuts with colorful glaze, candy eyes, and plastic fangs. Fry the doughnuts, then dip in homemade colored glaze and decorate for a fun, festive snack.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place a wire rack over a baking sheet. Pour vegetable oil into a large pot or pan to a depth of 2 inches and heat to 350°F. (If you lack a thermometer, drop a popcorn kernel into the cold oil; when it pops, the oil is ready.) Separate the 8 refrigerated biscuits and use a small knife or cookie cutter to cut a small hole in the center of each. Set the doughnuts and holes on the wire rack.
  2. Fry the biscuits a few at a time without crowding the pan. Cook until golden brown, then flip with two forks and fry the other side. Transfer back to the wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Divide the 1½ cups confectioner's sugar evenly among three bowls. Working one bowl at a time, add 1 tablespoon milk or water and whisk. Continue adding milk a little at a time until you reach a thick but pourable consistency. Use a toothpick to add a tiny amount of gel food coloring (Leaf Green, Violet, or Sky Blue), stirring and adding more until you achieve the desired shade. Repeat for the other two bowls.
  4. Dip the top of each cooled doughnut into a glaze, letting the excess drip off, and return to the wire rack. For the fangs, insert them into the doughnut in the closed position, then slowly open them once placed. Add candy eyes. Let the glaze set completely before serving.
