Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at flamingotoes.com.
This project guides you through creating a festive Halloween wreath using a foam form, white satin, black lace, and a doily. Key steps include covering the form with fabric, adding a mossy base, painting a faux apple with burgundy and black layers before coating it in red glitter, and attaching it with wire. The display is finished with a printed pennant on ribbon, plastic spiders tucked into the moss, and optional frame decorations like a satin flower and bow.

Directions
- Cut the white satin into three-inch wide strips. Wrap these strips tightly around the foam wreath base until it is fully covered. If you prefer, you can substitute satin ribbon, though the fabric often costs less when found on sale.
- Place the satin-wrapped form face-down on the reverse side of the black lace. Cut a small opening in the middle of the lace, then make several cuts radiating from that hole to create flaps. Apply hot glue to the underside of the wreath and press the lace flaps down to secure them.
- Pull the remaining lace fabric over the front of the wreath and adhere it to the back. Use scissors to trim any excess lace from the rear for a clean finish.
- Position the six-inch doily over the lower center area of the wreath so that it drapes slightly over the edge. Secure it with hot glue.
- Apply a small cluster of moss directly over the doily to conceal the glue and add texture.
- For a spooky effect, lightly spray the faux apple with burgundy paint, followed by a light layer of black. Once dry, coat the entire apple in red glitter craft paint using long, smooth brush strokes to prevent clumping.
- Attach a five-inch piece of wire to the base of the apple. If wire is unavailable, simply glue the apple directly to the wreath.
- Insert the wire into the wreath to position the apple. Add glitter to the stem if desired. Tuck small plastic spiders into the moss; using spider rings is a convenient option since the ring portion unscrews easily for placement.
- Print your pennant design and cut out the individual shapes. Adhere these pieces to a length of ribbon.
- Secure the ribbon with the pennant to the back of the wreath using sewing pins.
- For a framed display, glue a ribbon loop around the frame. You can also attach a handmade satin flower and bow to the top of the frame for extra decoration.
