With simple piping techniques and a few key ingredients, you can craft a fun and festive Halloween dessert that's perfect for parties or trick-or-treaters.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cream of tartar together on medium speed. Continue mixing for approximately five to seven minutes until the mixture forms stiff peaks.
  2. Divide the finished icing evenly among four separate bowls. Add a different drop of food coloring to each bowl to create four distinct hues.
  3. Transfer each colored icing into its own piping bag, preparing them for decoration.
  4. Remove the wrappers from the chocolate ding dongs and arrange them on a baking sheet.
  5. With the red icing, pipe the lower section of the flames onto the bottom of each cake.
  6. Using the orange icing, outline the red flame section to create a border.
  7. Apply the yellow icing in the same manner to complete the flame effect.
  8. Take a toothpick and gently drag it through the wet icing colors to blend them and achieve a realistic fire appearance.
  9. On the top of each cake, pipe the green icing to represent the witch's potion.
  10. Press the green and purple sixlets along the green icing line to add texture and detail.
  11. Finish the treats by placing small edible eyes on the cakes for a spooky touch.
