These Bubbling Witch's Cauldron Brownies start with a boxed mix baked in mini muffin tins. After cooling, each brownie gets a well filled with green-tinted buttercream, topped with green nonpareils, and finished with a pretzel stick for stirring.
Ingredients
Directions
- Heat the oven to the temperature specified on the brownie mix box, then prepare the batter according to the package directions.
- Coat a mini muffin pan with non-stick spray. Fill each cup about two-thirds full with the brownie batter.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Take the pan out of the oven and use a half-tablespoon measure to press a well into each brownie. Let them cool completely before removing from the pan.
- For the buttercream, beat the softened stick of butter with an electric mixer until smooth, about 30 seconds. Gradually add 1 to 2 cups of powdered sugar, beating until well combined. Add a small amount of green gel food coloring and mix thoroughly.
- Drop a dollop of the green buttercream into the indentation of each brownie using a spoon. Use the spoon to swirl the buttercream into wispy peaks.
- Sprinkle large and small green nonpareils onto the buttercream. For a bubbling-over effect, let some buttercream spill down the side of the brownie and add nonpareils there as well.
- Insert a broken pretzel stick into each cauldron to serve as a stirring spoon.
- Serve immediately or store at room temperature if serving the same day; otherwise, place in an airtight container until ready to serve.
