Directions
- Prepare your pumpkin for carving by using a keyhole saw to cut an opening in the side or bottom. Scoop out all the flesh, pulp, and seeds with a plastic scraper or fleshing tool.
- Choose your desired design and print the templates on standard 8½-by-11-inch paper. Carefully cut around each shape, then tape the paper patterns onto your pumpkin in the spots you want them.
- Transfer the design to the pumpkin by poking holes along the template lines using an awl, needle tool, or T-pin. This creates a dotted outline to guide your carving.
- Remove the paper templates and carve along the dotted pattern with a saw. Use a miniature saw for intricate details. Coat the exposed pumpkin flesh with petroleum jelly to keep it from turning brown.
