This project transforms an empty coffee can into a cute scarecrow using tan felt, orange felt for the nose, buttons for eyes, and twine for a stitched smile. Raffia creates the hair, topped with a small straw hat and silk flowers for a festive fall look.
You'll need
Directions
- Attach the lid to the coffee can, then cover the entire can with tan felt using craft glue.
- Lay the can on its side and apply instant grab glue to form a mouth shape. Cut a piece of twine to match the glue line and press it into place. Cut the remaining twine into 1-inch pieces and glue them onto the smile in a stitch pattern.
- Cut a triangle from orange felt and glue it above the smile for a nose.
- Glue two large mismatched buttons onto the face as eyes.
- Stand the can upright and apply a generous amount of craft glue to the lid. Cut raffia into 18-inch lengths and arrange them on top of the lid, covering it completely. Ensure the raffia aligns properly with the facial features, then let it dry.
- Glue the small straw hat onto the raffia hair.
- Attach two silk flowers to the hat with glue.
