This DIY project uses a wire frame, orange tulle, a candy pumpkin bucket, empty candy boxes, and fake critters to create a festive Halloween wreath. After covering the frame with tulle and attaching the pumpkin, you'll glue on candy boxes and creepy decorations for a fun, budget-friendly decoration.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Slice 20 to 30 pieces of orange tulle ribbon, each measuring 24 inches long. Take one piece, fold it in half, slide the folded end under the wreath frame, then pull the two loose ends through the loop and tighten. Keep going until the entire wreath is covered; for a neater look, only use the inner three rings of the frame so the outer ring keeps the tulle from curling behind.
  2. Trim the tulle edges so they are all the same distance from the wreath frame, creating a fairly even circle.
  3. Remove the handle from the candy pumpkin bucket using scissors or wire cutters.
  4. Thread a black ribbon through each of the two holes where the handle was attached. Tie these ribbons to the wire frame, positioning the pumpkin slightly below the center so the candy will sit above the pumpkin’s rim. Tighten the knots securely.
  5. Decide how you want the pumpkin to sit against the wall. To make it project outward, use tin snips to cut off the back third of the bucket.
  6. Use hot glue to attach fake rats, snakes, or bugs to the wreath. For extra creepiness, cut one rat in half and glue it so it appears to be emerging from the pumpkin’s mouth.
  7. Glue the large candy boxes directly onto the wreath (not on the pumpkin) so they look like they are spilling out of the pumpkin. Then add smaller candy boxes wherever you like. Hang and enjoy!
