DIY Pumpkin Mason Jar Craft for Fall Decor and Gifts
Turn plain mason jars into adorable pumpkins with chalk paint, corks, and leaves for fall decor or gifts.
Our own summary of the original by Sarah Nenni-Daher — the full post and photos live at rufflesandrainboots.com.
This project transforms ordinary mason jars into charming pumpkin decorations using chalk paint in orange, off-white, and a mix. Wine corks become stems, artificial leaves add realism, and a jute ribbon finishes the look. Sealing the paint ensures durability for storage or gift-giving.
You'll need
Directions
- Wash the glass jars and put the lids aside. Using Americana Chalky Paint in Heritage, coat one jar in orange but don't paint the rim. Paint a second jar with the Lace off-white. For the third, mix equal parts orange and white, then apply this blend. Let each dry before adding a second coat.
- While the first coat dries, paint the lids with Americana multi-surface in Woodland green. They will require several coats for full coverage.
- Attach a wine cork to the center of each painted lid using a hot glue gun. Glue one or two artificial leaves near the cork's base. Tie a piece of jute burlap-style ribbon around the base.
- Apply a sealant to the painted jars to protect the finish from chipping during storage or handling.
