Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at gritsandpinecones.com.
This easy Halloween pasta combines ground beef, frozen meatballs, and spinach spaghetti in a rich tomato sauce. The creepy touch comes from candy eyes on each meatball, making it a fun and festive meal. Serve warm with Parmesan and fresh basil for extra flavor.
Ingredients
Directions
- In a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat, crumble the ground beef and cook until browned, then drain off the fat. Toss in the frozen meatballs and let them get lightly browned.
- Pour the spaghetti sauce into the skillet with the beef and meatballs. Lower the heat to medium and let it simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, until the meatballs are hot and well-coated.
- While that simmers, cook the spinach spaghetti following the instructions on the box. Before draining, save half a cup of the pasta water.
- If the sauce seems too thick, stir in some of the saved pasta water. Place the cooked spaghetti on a serving dish, then spoon the sauce and meatballs over it. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Press a large candy eye onto the top of each meatball to create a spooky look.
- If you like, add fresh basil leaves as a garnish. Serve the pasta while it's still warm.
