Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at eighteen25.blogspot.com.
Create a charming ghost decoration by building a wooden form inside a mason jar lid, covering it with starch-soaked cheesecloth, and letting it dry. Add simple eyes and seal the ghost in the jar for a festive display. Optionally, dress up the jar with scrapbook paper.

Directions
- Use hot glue to attach one wooden spool to the underside of a mason jar lid.
- Cut a wood dowel to the desired ghost height (scissors work fine). Hot glue the dowel into the spool, then glue a wooden knob on top of the dowel. Optionally add more dowel pieces for arms, ensuring the entire structure fits through the jar opening.
- Layer several pieces of cheesecloth (about four layers) over the ghost form and cut the shape and length a bit longer than needed, since the next step will shrink the cloth slightly.
- Pour liquid starch into a bowl. Keeping the cheesecloth layers together, submerge one ghost's cloth in the starch until fully saturated.
- Remove the cheesecloth from the bowl, squeeze out excess starch, carefully flatten it, and drape it over the ghost form. Shape as desired, then let it dry completely.
- Using black craft paint or a Sharpie, dot two eyes on the dried ghost. Gently put the lid back on the mason jar, trapping the ghost inside.
- Optionally, wrap a 1 1/4" strip of scrapbook paper around the base of the jar and secure with Scotch tape for a cuter look.
