You'll need
Directions
- Collect all your materials. Start by painting the outside and top edge of the 10" wooden embroidery hoop with dark brown acrylic craft paint. Allow the paint to dry fully, then apply a second coat if necessary for even coverage.
- Take the orange felt yardage and fit it loosely into the hoop, adjusting so it's snug and wrinkle-free. Tighten the screw at the top to secure. Trim excess felt from the back, then apply a thin line of fabric glue along the cut edge to prevent fraying. Let dry completely.
- Download, print, and cut out the free Jack O Lantern patterns. Use a white chalk pencil to trace the patterns onto the black felt sheets. Carefully cut out each shape, staying on the inside edge of the traced lines for clean edges.
- Your Jack O Lantern includes four sets of eyes, noses, and mouths, allowing you to swap expressions. Feel free to create additional custom features like eyebrows, mustaches, or fangs from leftover felt to personalize your pumpkin.
- Trace the pumpkin stem onto dark brown felt twice, and the leaves onto bright green and olive green felt using a permanent marker. Cut them out. Cut 12-inch lengths of assorted green ribbons and tie them loosely around the hoop's top screw. Use a hot glue gun to attach the two stem pieces together and mount them at the back top of the hoop. Apply a half-inch bead of hot glue to the base of each leaf, fold them in half, and glue them on either side of the screw.
