Give thrifted lace doilies a haunting makeover with grey dye and black embroidery hoops. Add fake spiders for instant creepiness, or create a mummy figure to place in the web. This craft repurposes vintage items into eerie Halloween decorations.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Dye the lace doilies with grey fabric dye according to the package instructions to give them a more spooky appearance.
  2. Paint a thrifted embroidery hoop black using acrylic or spray paint.
  3. Insert the dyed lace doily into the hoop and tighten the rings so the doily is stretched taut.
  4. Trim away any excess doily material and seal the cut edges with fabric glue or fray stop glue.
  5. Attach fake spiders to the web for decoration.
  6. Optionally, form a stick figure from a white pipe cleaner, wrap it with medical tape to resemble a mummy, and hot glue it to the center of the web.
  7. For extra spookiness, use grey thread to hang a fake spider from the embroidery hoop through one of the openings in the doily.
