This project guides you through creating decorative witch legs using a picture frame, various fabrics like Neon Lime Chevron and black grosgrain, and embellishments such as lace, hot glue, and orange pom-pom flowers. The process involves pleating tulle for the skirt, adhering ribbons and lace for the legs and cuffs, and attaching shoe details with heat-activated adhesive and glue.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Press the chosen fabric with an iron to remove any wrinkles.
  2. Remove the cardboard backing from your picture frame; this will serve as a measuring guide for cutting the material.
  3. Trim the fabric to the desired dimensions.
  4. Position the frame directly onto the fabric to visualize the final shape and size of the witch legs.
  5. Gather the netting or tulle in your hand and pleat it back and forth, similar to folding a paper fan.
  6. Once fully pleated, the gathered skirt should resemble the reference image showing the folded texture.
  7. Slide the folded top edge of the skirt between the frame and the fabric backing. The cardboard remains behind the fabric to provide a stable surface for assembly.
  8. For a striped effect, you could combine different ribbons, but this project uses a solid Neon Lime Chevron fabric for the legs.
  9. Adhere the ribbon to the Heat n Bond according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  10. Cut the ribbon to the required length.
  11. Iron the ribbon onto the fabric to secure it in place.
  12. Measure and cut a section of lace, roughly 7 to 8 inches long, adjusting the length based on your preferred ruffle volume.
  13. Pleat the lace strip back and forth to create a fan-like texture.
  14. Apply a narrow line of hot glue along the designated cuff area.
  15. Press the pleated lace onto the glue, adding extra adhesive as needed to achieve the desired lay.
  16. Iron the 3 1/2-inch black grosgrain ribbon onto the Heat n Bond following the package directions.
  17. Flip the ribbon over and sketch a witch shoe shape freehand, or trace a printed template onto the adhesive side.
  18. Cut out the shoe shapes from the ribbon.
  19. Iron the shoes onto the legs and lace cuff, using the Heat n Bond to bond them. Apply firm pressure over the lace area to ensure the shoes sit flat.
  20. Attach the Festive Fuchsia ribbon with white Swiss dots to the shoe using a thin line of hot glue on the back.
  21. Secure the two Orange Pom Posy flowers to the shoe with hot glue.
  22. Your witch legs decoration is now complete!
