Create a giant popsicle costume using two sheets of cardboard, paint, rope, and a boxcutter. The seven-step process involves cutting, folding, gluing, and painting to build a wearable treat that's perfect for spooky season.
You'll need
Directions
- Stack two large cardboard sheets together and sketch the popsicle outline on the top one. For the rounded top, trace a large circular object like a side table, then draw straight lines downward to form the body.
- Cut away the top round section and leave the straight side parts intact to create flaps on the sides.
- Use a boxcutter to lightly score along the straight lines on the sides. Fold the top flaps downward and the bottom flaps (from the second cardboard piece) upward.
- Apply hot glue to the top and bottom flaps on each side and press them together to secure.
- Cut two lengths of rope, attach them to the top of the popsicle shape with hot glue, and tie them into shoulder straps.
- Paint the entire popsicle shape—either a single color all around or a color-blocked design with multiple paint colors.
- Finally, cut a popsicle stick shape from leftover cardboard, paint it, and glue it to the bottom of the popsicle. Your costume is ready!
