Halloween Recipe: Bacon Wrapped Sausage Mummies

These bacon-wrapped sausage mummies combine smoky sausage, crispy bacon, and golden dough for a fun Halloween snack. First, partially cook bacon-wrapped sausages, then wrap them in strips of pizza dough and bake until golden. Finish with mustard eyes for a spooky, kid-friendly treat.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Wrap each sausage in a slice of bacon, then grill them for about half the usual time—roughly 10 minutes on a standard grill. You can also bake or air fry them, but only cook until halfway done since they'll finish in the oven later.
  2. Open a can of pre-made refrigerated pizza crust dough and unroll it on a cutting board. Use a knife to cut thin strips. Feel free to substitute with croissant, pastry, or breadstick dough—whatever you prefer.
  3. Mummify each bacon-wrapped sausage by wrapping a dough strip around one end, then crisscross in random directions. When a strip runs out, grab another and continue. Don't pull the dough tight or stretch it; wrap loosely. Try to start and end strips on the underside so they stay in place while baking.
  4. Place the mummies on a lined baking sheet. Gently spread apart the dough where you want the eyes to be. Bake at 350°F for about 15 minutes, until the dough turns golden brown. Do not flip them over. Add two dots of yellow mustard for eyes and serve.
